KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Councilman Wes Rogers has announced his campaign to run for Mayor of Kansas City.

Thursday evening, Councilman Rogers launched his mayoral campaign and shared his plan for how he looks to support the city if elected into the new role.

“Our next Mayor has to think big and take care of the small things,” said Rogers. “They also need to believe in Kansas City, its people, and the idea that with grit, hard work and a little bit of optimism, anything is possible here.”

Rogers represents Kansas City’s 2nd District and is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the Platte County Bar Association, the Clay County Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.

Rogers also represented southern Clay County in the Missouri House of Representatives between 2019 and 2022.

Rogers highlighted public safety, affordability, and the reimagining of city government operations as his key focuses as part of his campaign.

“I’d like to see a lot fewer headlines about drama at City Hall and more headlines about basic services being delivered well,” Rogers shared in a release Thursday.

The primary election will take place April 6, 2027 and the general election is set for June 8, 2027.
